Given The Ability Inc. and SureHands join Forces!!!!

We are pleased to announce our latest venture into accessibility by becoming SureHands lift and Care Systems representatives for Northern Illinois! From Peoria, Rockford, Chicago, suburbs and beyond Given The Ability is proud to be part of the SureHands family.

Given The Ability, Inc. recently completed training at SureHands headquarters in Pine Island New York. President Tom Herceg and his staff couldn’t be a nicer group of people in this for the right reason and it show ’s in the way they care about their product and especially their twenty-year clients who have varying degree’s and many types of disabilities.

Truth, Justice and the Accessible Way

Paying tribute to a personal hero.

There are those few days from childhood that I can remember as if they were yesterday. You know those days…those were the days that shaped you in some way or fashion. Those moments give you insight or just the ability to dream.

The year was 1978 and I was nine years old. It was opening night of “THE BIGGEST DEAL IN A BOYS LIFE” since the building of the great pyramids! I mention that because it was the year the King Tut phenomenon too the country by storm. It was opening night for “Superman: The Movie” starring someone I had never seen before the day I won that superman movie poster from my school’s annual fun fair, just the week before. There was superman protecting metropolis and underdogs everywhere.

Those two hours changed my life. My sister Jill had bought me a Superman; The Movie program after the movie and it flicked a switch in me as a young boy. No matter who you are you will have problems, some small, some big, but if you help people…down the line you’ll be ok...........more

Hurricane Katrina swept through Louisiana and Mississippi creating the worst natural disaster this country has ever seen from a Hurricane. The levy system failed to hold back the massive storm surges. Not only has it changed the landscape forever, but more importantly the impact it had on so many lives.

The first day after Katrina hit there was one plane that was able to get out of New Orleans before the airport was closed. That flight came to Chicago.
An elderly couple managed to get on that plane to stay with family members.

Their damaged home is located in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. Both in there early to mid –eighties, the husband also living with Blindness and being confined to a wheelchair. They were one of the lucky ones to get out early ......more
